Stage your story

Bring a story. Cast it, direct it, keep the performance.

Bring something you’ve written, a premise, or a classic from the library. Canovaccio turns it into acts and scenes, you choose the cast, and an AI cast performs it while you direct, scene by scene. When the curtain falls, you keep the script and the show.

Start with what you have

Your pages, or just an idea

Canovaccio asks which you brought.

Bring your pages

Paste or import something you’ve written and it’s adapted: broken into acts and scenes, speakers named, prose tidied for the stage, your story and ending intact.

Bring an idea

Start from a premise and choose to develop it: Canovaccio fills out the scenes, inventing the detail and dialogue you left open and staying true to everything you wrote.

How a Script comes together

From the first page to the curtain call

01

Bring it

Your pages, a premise, or a classic from the library.

02

Cast it

Choose from the house company of nearly a hundred actors, adopt one the community shares, or create your own, each with a story, a voice and a personality.

03

Direct it

Cue each beat and the cast plays it together, scene by scene, through to the ending.

04

Shape it

When the show wraps, trim it in the cutting room and give any scene its own artwork.

From the page to the stage

The story stays yours. The cast finds the words.

A Christmas Carol

One actor and a storyteller carrying a dozen speaking parts, from the counting house to the graveyard and back to Christmas morning.

In the story

The Ghost of Christmas Past takes Scrooge back to old Fezziwig’s Christmas party, where he watches his younger self.

On stage, Scrooge says

He danced like a fool. And he was happy, and I cannot for the life of me remember why I stopped.

That line is the cast’s own, not Dickens’s.

Questions about Scripts

Will it keep my words?

Your story, your characters and your ending, yes. The prose is tidied for the stage and the cast speaks in their own words, so it’s a staging of your story, not a reading of it.

What can I bring?

Something you wrote, a premise, a public domain classic, or other material you have the right to use.

Who can see it?

Only you, until you share or publish it. Share a family friendly show by link and anyone can open it, no account needed, until you close the link. Other shows, and the Showcase, ask viewers to sign in with a free account.

Can I stage it with real actors?

Yes. Download the script and take it to your own troupe.
